QuickExpense ("we", "our", or "us") is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and safeguard your information when you use our mobile application.
Data Collection
Data You Provide
- Expense data: Amounts, merchants, categories, dates, and notes you enter manually or through receipt scanning.
- Receipt images: Photos of receipts you scan for OCR processing.
Data We Collect Automatically
- Usage data: Anonymous analytics to improve app performance (crash reports, feature usage).
- Device information: Device type and operating system version for compatibility purposes.
How We Use Your Data
- Expense tracking: To display, organize, and analyze your expenses.
- Receipt scanning: To extract expense details from receipt images using AI-powered OCR.
- App improvement: To fix bugs, improve performance, and develop new features.
Data Storage
Local-First Design
QuickExpense is designed with privacy in mind. By default, all your expense data is stored locally on your device and is never transmitted to our servers. You have full control over your data.
Cloud Features (Optional)
If you choose to enable cloud sync (premium feature), your data is encrypted before being transmitted and stored on our servers. We use industry-standard encryption to protect your information.
Receipt Processing
When you scan a receipt, the image is temporarily processed by our OCR service to extract expense details. Receipt images are not permanently stored on our servers unless you enable cloud backup (premium feature).
Third-Party Services
We use the following third-party services:
- Anthropic (Claude): For AI-powered receipt OCR processing. Receipt images are processed according to Anthropic's Privacy Policy.
- Cloudflare: For hosting and API infrastructure. Subject to Cloudflare's Privacy Policy.
Data Retention
- Local data: Stored on your device until you delete it or uninstall the app.
- Cloud data: If you enable cloud sync, data is retained until you delete it or disable sync.
- Receipt images for OCR: Processed in real-time and not permanently stored unless cloud backup is enabled.
Your Rights
You have the right to:
- Access: View all your data within the app.
- Delete: Delete your data at any time from Settings.
- Export: Export your expense data in a portable format.
- Portability: With cloud sync enabled, use your recovery phrase to restore data on any device.
Children's Privacy
QuickExpense is not intended for children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of any changes by posting the new Privacy Policy on this page and updating the "Last updated" date.
